Curve Finance Offers Reward For Information About Hacker
Decentralized exchange Curve Finance has announced the deadline for the returning funds that were stolen in a hack at the end of July 2023 has expired. Now, the company suggests a reward for the information about the hacker. Its amount is 10% of the funds that the attacker never returned, which equals $1.85 million. The exchange is also ready to stop the investigation if the hacker agrees to give back assets.
DEX Curve Finance was hacked on July 30, 2023. Afterwards, the hacker began to return funds on August 4, 2023. In first transaction he wrote:
The Alchemix and JPEGd protocols received funds in full. Metronome, Curve and AlchemixFi protocols received some of the funds. However, the hacker still controls about $18 million worth of cryptocurrencies, according to PeckShield experts.
The Curve Finance hack led to a sharp drop in the CRV rate, and even put the entire DeFi sector at risk. The founder of the exchange, Mikhail Egorov, was forced to sell 106 million CRV at a price below the market price in order to help the company.
